A personal fantasy music project
“Oniand” is a short album of linear music that I composed in 2022 while I was getting my computer programming degree. The name is a bit of a joke – I often have a hard time naming my music, so I tend to put placeholder names that describe the music. In this case, the first track has a recurring motif whose rhythm lines up with the “one-ee-and” in the rhythm, using the “one-ee-and-ah two-ee-and-ah” counting system. I thought hey, “Oniand” sounds like a fantasy name, right? Had I know that I would later compose the soundtrack for a Skyrim mod called “Olenveld” I would have picked a less similar name, but here we are in the future where hindsight is 20/20.
Music in Oniand is heavily influenced by the music of the Elder Scrolls series (of course), but also late romantic and impressionist classical music like Wagner and Debussy.
You can download the music from its Bandcamp page or find it on all major streaming services.
